theshadowedShe pushes herself up out of the air duct back onto the roof, focusing on keeping the shadows wrapped around her; she'd just look like one of those things you see out of the corner of your eye. If someone tried to focus, it would look like what more superstitious people would call a shadow person before they can't focus on her any longer.
She thought the Registration Act offices would have been harder to break into and more secure, but they weren't; she had what she needed: proof that they were paying for votes and support.
Only one of those things was illegal. The other would just make them look bad, not that they could look any worse in her eyes.
She has to let the shadow drop away as she focuses on the root top about 20 feet away and easy jump to make given the amount of shadows crisscrossing the rooftops. She adjusts the bag across her back, the black hood settled over her head, and the matching balaclava hiding most of her face before taking a few steps back and crouching down, getting ready to make the move to the other rooftop. She wanted to drop this off, get the other half of the payment for this job, and go home. She had a date tomorrow.
Who'd she have to tell she was a mutant at some point.
