PERSONALITY

Izzy can be closed off in sharing some aspects of her life, mostly her time on the stretts between her parents kicking her out and Marcos taking her in. Ask her about that time, and it will be followed up by some sarcastic answer or a change of subject.

After the year spent with Marcos, she starts to get more of her sense of humor back, though she is far more protective of herself and politically aware of what people want to do to mutants after a year on the streets and a year living with Marcos.

She's a bit of a shit talker, and while most of the time she can dish it out and take it, some things will touch a nerve around her parents or around what she did to survive on the streets.

At the start of physical altercations, she's more likely to use her fists than her powers.

Most of the time, she strives to be just like a normal teenager, but with things like the Registration Act and the cure, it's difficult.

Appearance

Short-ish, Rocker lean to the way she dresses, a lot of secondhand shop clothing, jeans, and sneakers kind of person, on the fairer side. A side effect of her mutation is that she has d3 and iron deficiency, which leads to easy bruising and light-sensitive eyes, so on bright days, she will be seen in sunglasses, possibly indoors as well.

She had a normal relationship with her parents, only mildly strained due to differing interests in music and art. The standard early to mid-90s latchkey kid, Lower middle class in San Francisco, her parents only had the house they did because her father's parents had bought it before the techies started moving into the Bay Area.

She knew around 12 that she was a mutant, and as her powers slowly started to manifest, she kept it a secret from her friends and her parents. Her mother was very pro-registration act, pushing into the area that they should all be locked up.

She would try to mildly push back against this and get sent to her room or yelled at; one of these fights, while she was holding her younger brother, triggered her gifts, and she 'vanished' (Hide in plane sight D&D) into the shadows in front of them.

Her parents gave her an hour to pack what she could and kicked her out, her father slipping her some money while she tried to figure things out.

Izzy fell in with the group of homeless kids who hung around Golden Gate Park and the Lower Haight; she learned there was safety in numbers the first month she dabbled in drugs and realized this would be a detriment to her survival.

She dealt drugs for a month or so while on the streets to be able to afford to eat, but didn't like what it was doing to the people she sold to, so given her gifts she decided picking the pockets from wealthy tourists was the way to go. During this time she also had a habit of shoplifting disposable cameras.

After a little over a year on the streets she gets stabbed after accidently getting in the middle of a fight one night in Golden Gate Park. A mutant named Marcos is passing through back to the bar he owns, and gets her to the ER, he convinces the hospital that he is her legal guardian and takes her in.

After a bit of time getting herself back together after 18 months on the street, Marcos a militant mutants' rights activist after about a year convinces her to go back to school, and that Xaviers would probably be the best place for at the moment, to get more control over her powers. Though he doesn't fully agree with Xaviers methods of achieving Mutant Liberation.

After leaving Xaviers she doesn't hesitate to blow up trucks carrying shipments of the cure, or biotech firms helping produce it, however she does her best to not kill anyone, a line she doesn't want to and fears crossing.

Mutation and Skills

Mutation

Her mutation allows her to move from one shadow to the next; as she gets older, the distance she can 'jump' from shadow to shadow grows; it will cap out between 100-200 feet, depending on the size of the shadow.

Much like hiding in a plain site, if she is within ten feet of a shadow, she 'disappears' within the shadow without having to hide behind anything; as she gets older, the distances increase to 15-20 feet, depending on the size of the shadow.

As her mutation progresses, she develops the ability to manipulate and interact with shadows, forming shapes out of them along walls; as this develops, she can create three-dimensional objects, though they make no sound and are like something out of a silent movie. This may feel like a hallucination to some. Further down the line, she can move and manipulate physical objects by grabbing their shadow; this includes people. However, this can take a lot out of her, depending on what she is doing with the shadow.

Shadow Slash and Shadow spike (see shadow knight link) however this will zap her energy for a hot minute and she doesn't get there until her 20s

She has better vision than 20/20 at night, the vision of a nocturnal animal, much like dark vision in D&D.

Her vision during the day is weak, and her mutation makes her eyes sensitive to light; outdoors on bright days, she can be seen with a pair of sunglasses or regular glasses. Due to her mutation, she also has a problem processing the nutrient D3, mainly provided by the sun, leading to a deficiency in iron.

Her powers are nerfed almost totally if there are no shadows during the day. She also can not hide in her own shadow, and she also can not move through solid objects.
